From the 02nd – 09th of October 2021, the Africa Classic International Edition will set in motion six days of mountain biking through the beautiful landscape of Tanzania to contribute to improving health in Africa.
Africa Classic has a purpose to structurally improve the health of the most vulnerable populations in Africa and iSQl is sponsoring this great cause through the Beaming Knowledge in Africa initiative – showing once more the passion iSQI has for Africa and how the spirit of sportsmanship is not just limited to participating in a sport.
More than 28 riders will trek through breathtaking paths of red sand, volcanic stones, palm trees, savannas, and big wildlife parks in an effort to raise over 15,000 Euros for Amref Flying Doctors.
The last edition of Africa Classic was hosted in Uganda and was welcomed with great warmth and enthusiasm from the Ugandan people as 155 km was traversed in temperature, humidity, dust and tropical rain showers – making it a real physical and mental challenge!
Besides the special outdoor experience, Africa Classic gives participants the chance to visit various Amref flying doctors’ locations such as pop-up hospitals, elementary health care, and sexual health education programs in schools. During one of these Amref visits, bikers were particularly impressed by the life-saving work done by local health workers under very limited resources.
These challenges not only provide unforgettable experiences for the team of riders, organizations and communities involved but also contribute towards the building of a stronger and healthier Africa.
